Sr. Windows Virtualization Engineer

Clearance: DHS Public Trust or ability to obtain

Location: Reston, VA

Dev Technology Group is seeking an experienced Sr. Windows Virtualization Engineer to provide services supporting a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agency that protects the nation’s transportation system. This position will be responsible for the engineering, design, architecture, and implementation (from the ground up), of a virtualized Microsoft Windows environment utilizing Hyper-V technology within a high-availability development, testing, and production environment.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Extensive experience with designing, deploying, and maintaining Microsoft Hyper-V environments
  • Experience with Windows High Availability and Disaster Recovery utilizing Hyper-V
  • Working knowledge of VMWare (vSphere, vCenter)
  • Ability to create architectural design documents and presentations
  • Understanding of cloud technologies and service-oriented architecture
  • Hands-on experience with SCCM, SCOM, and SolarWinds
  • Thorough knowledge of Windows Domain, Active Directory, and GPO
  • Thorough knowledge of Windows Networking including DNS, DHCP, Routers, and Switches
  • Experience with various Windows-based hardware platforms (Dell, IBM, HP)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a team player (team oriented) and willing to follow directions, as well as take initiative

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with CHEF Automation Platform
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Windows Scripting (PowerShell)
  • Microsoft IIS administration
  • Experience with Backup Software (NetBackup)
  • Technical certifications including MCSA/MCSE or MCTS/MCITP strongly preferred

 Travel: 50%+ to NJ for approximately 4 months
