Front End Java Developer

Clearance: DHS Public Trust or ability to obtain

Location: Alexandria, VA

We are recruiting for a Front End Java Developer to support systems development activities for a mission-critical application for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  The Developer will be responsible for working on software enhancements and bug fixes to support the existing biometrics applications in an agile development environment. The individual must be a team player and willing to work in a fast-paced high-profile environment.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in web-based software development including at least 2 years with Java JEE application development
  • Experience with responsive design, Bootstrap frameworks, and Angular JS
  • Experience with JEE UI technologies such JSP/JSF or Struts
  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically and creatively to develop innovative solutions to resolve software problems
  • Demonstrated ability to work a in a collaborative and in self-directed manner in a fast-moving environment

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with law enforcement or biometrics is a plus
  • Knowledge of JavaScript Frameworks such as jQuery, Dojo
  • Familiarity with database design techniques and relational database such as Oracle
  • Knowledge of development tools such as Eclipse, Git, and Jenkins
  • First-hand experience working with large project teams (i.e., working with the Federal Government a big plus)
  • Experience with UI scaffolding, build and development tools such as Yeoman, Node, Bower, Grunt, and Gulp
  • Experience with application servers such as WebLogic in a clustered environment

Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree
