Associate Application Developer

Clearance:  DHS Public Trust (or ability to obtain)

Location: Washington, D.C.

Dev Technology Group is seeking an Associate Application Developer to join our team. This project involves performing Agile Software Development in delivering functionality for systems that are used to support ICE’s mission of investigation, arrest, detention and removal of aliens who violate the nation’s federal laws related to border control, customs, trade and immigration.


This position will involve software development from requirements gathering phase through coding and testing; researching issues in existing code and finding a solution; preparing ad hoc reports, communicating status including issues and risks to team; collaborating with team members to reach problem resolution; learning new skill sets on the job.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 months experience with or exposure to Java / J2EE development (can include classwork)
  • Aptitude for picking up technology quickly along with a desire to learn and progress
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Resume should demonstrate good written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with team members to ensure client needs and expectations are met or exceeded
  • Ability to communicate with end users in order to research software issues

 Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • 6 months to 3 years of experience in the Technology Sector strongly desired. This can include previous internships
  • Experience with or exposure to Spring, Struts, and Hibernate
  • Experience with JQuery, Subversion, XML, and JSP
  • Experience with AngularJS, Javascript
  • Develop diagrams and application flow charts
  • Ability to work with SQL
  • Exposure to agile and DevOps tools, such as Git, Jenkins, Maven, Chef, Junit
  • Exposure to or experience with RESTful web services

 Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree
